Parliamentary Committee Reviews Labour Ministry’s Job Vacancy System

Manama: The parliamentary inquiry committee examining job vacancies recorded by the Ministry of Labour and procedures related to jobseekers and unemployment benefits conducted its first field visit to the ministry on Wednesday, January 14. The visit was led by MP Jalila Alawi Al Sayed, chairwoman of the committee, alongside committee members.
During the visit, the committee met Minister of Labour and Minister of Legal Affairs Yousef bin Abdulhussain Khalaf and senior officials. Discussions focused on verifying the accuracy of job vacancy data held by the ministry, reviewing how vacancies are filled, and examining the processes for closing jobseeker files and suspending unemployment benefits.
MP Al Sayed said the meeting provided an in-depth briefing on the ministry’s advanced electronic platform used by employers to post vacancies and by citizens to search for employment opportunities. Ministry officials delivered a detailed visual presentation of the system, followed by extensive discussions in which committee members raised technical questions linked to the scope of the parliamentary investigation.
She added that the committee will continue to assess challenges related to employment services and work closely with relevant authorities to address them. The aim, she said, is to develop a comprehensive national approach that safeguards citizens’ livelihoods and upholds their social rights.
The committee comprises MP Jalila Alawi Al Sayed (Chairwoman), MP Mahmoud Mirza Fardan (Vice-Chairman), MP Abdul Wahid Abdul Aziz Qarata, MP Munir Ibrahim Surour, MP Mohsen Ali Al Asbool, MP Abdullah Khalifa Al Rumaihi, and MP Mahdi Abdul Aziz Al Shuwaikh.
