Azerbaijani Delegation Explores Bahrain’s Digital Transformation Experience

Manama: A delegation from the Secretariat General of the National Assembly of the Republic of Azerbaijan, headed by Mr. Farid Hajiyev, Chief of Staff of the Milli Majlis, attended a briefing on digital transformation initiatives, the Green Parliament project, and the use of artificial intelligence in parliamentary work at the Secretariat General of the Council of Representatives, as part of an official parliamentary visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The briefing was attended by Mr. Mohammed Ibrahim Al Sisi Al Buainain, Secretary-General of the Council of Representatives. It began with an introductory video highlighting the Council’s achievements, as well as its legislative and oversight roles.

Mr. Ghassan Ibrahim Maki, Quality Development and Assurance Expert, delivered a presentation on the Green Parliament initiative and environmental sustainability, outlining the stages through which the Secretariat General obtained ISO 14001:2015 certification for its Environmental Management System. He noted that the Council of Representatives is the first parliament regionally and globally to receive this certification.

The delegation was also briefed on the integration of artificial intelligence into parliamentary operations and the advanced digital programmes launched by the Secretariat General, which has become among the first legislative bodies worldwide to obtain ISO 42001:2023 certification for the Artificial Intelligence Management System.

Mr. Jassim Al Gannas, Director of the Information Technology Directorate, reviewed the Council’s digital transformation journey, highlighting the role of electronic systems in enhancing legislative efficiency, saving time and resources, and facilitating research and data access. He also explained the electronic minutes system and the interactive electronic meeting platform (eMeeting++).

The Azerbaijani delegation praised the Council of Representatives’ pioneering initiatives and the Secretariat General’s international achievements in digital transformation, environmental sustainability, and artificial intelligence. They stressed the importance of building on these experiences through continued cooperation and the exchange of expertise to further strengthen relations between the Council of Representatives and the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan.
