Two Drivers Jailed and Fined for Illegal Street Racing in Zallaq
The Head of the Traffic Prosecution has announced that the Minor Criminal Court has issued verdicts against two drivers for carrying out an illegal street race on a public road.
The court sentenced the first accused to one month in jail and fined him BD 1,000, while the second accused was sentenced to six months in jail and fined BD 1,000. Both were convicted of racing on a public road without a permit, reckless driving, endangering lives and property, and exceeding the legally permitted speed limit. The court also ordered the confiscation of the two vehicles involved.
The case dates back to a report received by the Public Prosecution from the General Directorate of Traffic regarding a racing incident between two vehicles on Bahrain Bay Road in the Zallaq area, where both drivers were found to be driving at excessive speeds that posed a danger to public safety.
Following the report, the Public Prosecution immediately launched an investigation. The two vehicles were identified, and their drivers were arrested. During questioning, both suspects confessed to the charges. After completing the investigations and reviewing the evidence, the case was referred to the competent court, which issued the above-mentioned rulings.
