Interior Minister highlights Bahrain’s firm measures to strengthen global crackdown

The Minister of Interior, His Excellency General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, has highlighted Bahrain’s firm commitment to combatting corruption.
He noted that the Kingdom has “established firm rules and practical measures in combating corruption, which have strengthened its status in this domain, regionally and internationally.”
Speaking on the occasion of International Anti-Corruption Day, observed annually on December 9, H.E. General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah emphasised that Bahrain’s approach is guided by the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
Commitment
“The Kingdom’s commitment to the application of optimal procedures and standards ensures the enforcement of regional and international agreements promoting integrity and transparency,” he said, highlighting Bahrain’s alignment with global anti-corruption efforts.
The Minister added: “Advancing a culture of anti-corruption, grounded in legislation and sound procedures, is a key pillar of economic and social development.”
Bahrain has built a comprehensive legislative and institutional framework to combat corruption, the Minister noted, promoting community partnership, raising awareness, and encouraging self-regulation.
Cooperation
He stressed that “effective cooperation between the state and society through reporting violations and participating in integrity programmes plays a central role in protecting public funds and supporting sustainable development.”
H.E. General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah commended the work of the General Directorate of Anti-Corruption, Economic and Electronic Security, which has received 193 reports since the beginning of the year, all processed according to strict legal procedures ensuring confidentiality and fairness.
Awareness campaigns and international cooperation initiatives have also raised national performance levels in line with international standards.
Global efforts
Bahrain is a party to both the Arab Convention and the United Nations Convention against Corruption and actively engages in global efforts through international cooperation and exchange of expertise.
Concluding his remarks, H.E. General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah extended his appreciation to all national bodies working in this field, stressing that combating corruption is a shared responsibility that supports Bahrain’s sustainable development.
