Thailand’s National Day was celebrated in last night at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Bahrain, with a vibrant showcase that brought together diplomats, government officials and community guests. The Thai Embassy orchestrated an evening that blended cultural performances, traditional displays and a warm diplomatic atmosphere, reflecting the deep-rooted friendship between the Kingdom of Thailand and the Kingdom of Bahrain. Guests were welcomed into a hall that radiated elegance and festive spirit, setting the tone for a memorable celebration.

Ceremony

The event began with a moment of solemnity as the Bahraini national anthem was performed, followed by Thailand’s anthem. The dual performance underlined the mutual respect and enduring relations between the two nations. This formal opening gave way to an energetic live Muay Thai demonstration, captivating the audience with dynamic displays of skill, strength and precision. Fighters from several training schools across Bahrain performed with remarkable discipline, showcasing one of Thailand’s most iconic martial arts and engaging the audience with each striking movement and technique.

Culture

The celebration continued with traditional Thai dances, where performers adorned in vibrant costumes moved gracefully to the rhythms of authentic music. The dances added colour and cultural depth, immersing the audience in Thailand’s rich heritage. In his keynote address, Thai Ambassador to Bahrain, His Excellency Sumate Chulajata, spoke about the longstanding friendship and the growing collaboration between the two kingdoms. He congratulated his nation on its national day, highlighting shared achievements in commerce, culture and diplomacy, while reaffirming the bonds that continue to unite Bahrain and Thailand.

Experience

Guests were invited to sample a variety of Thai refreshments, from freshly pressed sugarcane juice to coconut juice and crisp banana chips, creating a sensory introduction to Thailand’s culinary culture. The highlight of the evening was the ceremonial cake-lighting, performed by Ambassador Chulajata together with Industry and Commerce Minister Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro and senior officials. The moment symbolised unity, celebration and the strong ties binding the two countries, eliciting smiles and applause from the audience.

The evening concluded with an extensive open buffet offering authentic Thai cuisine. Attendees enjoyed a selection of delicacies, including sushi, hammour fillet with soy sauce and traditional Thai coconut-flavoured ice cream. Each dish was carefully prepared to reflect Thailand’s culinary richness, providing a flavourful and satisfying end to a night filled with culture, ceremony and diplomacy.
