His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, deputized His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty the King's Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, to attend the closing ceremony of the IRONMAN 70.3 Middle East Championship Bahrain 2025.
This year’s event delivered a standout edition, further strengthening Bahrain’s position on the global sports map. The ceremony was attended by several senior officials.
Shaikh Nasser praised the success of the 2025 edition, noting that it reflects Bahrain’s continuous progress under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the support of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He said the championship highlights Bahrain’s vision to become a preferred destination for regional and international sporting events.
He added that the strong participation from professional and amateur athletes worldwide shows the growing global trust in Bahrain’s organizational capabilities and the country’s investment in sports as a key driver of development.
Shaikh Nasser also expressed pride in Bahrain Victorious for winning both the men’s and women’s professional categories, saying the achievement reflects the team’s high-level performance and ability to excel on the world stage.
At the end of the ceremony, Shaikh Nasser honored the event’s partners, sponsors, and supporting entities for their vital contributions, and crowned the winners in all categories.
The championship saw wide international participation and included a 1.9 km swim, a 90 km cycling race, and a 21.1 km run, along with a successful IRONKIDS race.
Bahrain Victorious delivered standout performances across the competition. Vincent Luis took first place in the men’s professional category, followed by teammate Vasco Vilaca in second, and Peter Heemeryck in third. In the women’s professional race, Georgia Taylor-Brown claimed the title, with Australia’s Natalie Van Coevorden finishing second, and Bahrain Victorious’ India Lee finishing third.
In the GCC men’s category, Kuwait’s Hamad Al Khaldi took first place, Bahrain’s Mohammed Al Ghais came second, and Mohammed Ahmed finished third. In the Bahraini men’s category, Mohammed Al Ghais won first place, followed by Mohammed Ahmed in second and Mohammed Kazem in third.
In the GCC and Bahraini women’s categories, Mai Al Haji secured first place, followed by Rouya Al Sa’ati in second and Lana Al Alawi in third.
