An individual has filed a report claiming he had been verbally abused on social media.
The head of the Cybercrime Prosecution announced that the Public Prosecution received the report through the Cybercrime Department of the General Directorate for Combating Corruption, Economic and Electronic Security at the Interior Ministry.
The complaint alleged that the suspect used obscene language and shared content that violated public morals.
Investigations revealed that the posts were made by a Gulf national known for repeatedly sharing material that breaches public order and decency.
The Public Prosecution took over the case, reviewed the published content, and ordered the suspect’s arrest.
Confession
During interrogation, the accused confessed in detail, admitting that his social media account — followed by thousands — was used to post such content to gain popularity.
The Public Prosecution ordered his pretrial detention pending further investigation and the confiscation of his mobile phone for technical examination.
The head of the Cybercrime Prosecution stressed that legal action will be taken against anyone who misuses social media platforms to spread content violating public morals.
