Two New Parks Open in Sitra to Boost Green Spaces and Wellbeing
The Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, H.E. Eng. Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, inaugurated two new public parks in Sitra Housing City, in the presence of H.E. Mrs. Amna bint Ahmed Al Rumaihi, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, along with several senior officials.
The initiative marks a key step in improving municipal and housing services, supporting urban development, and enriching residents’ quality of life.
Minister Al Mubarak emphasized the government’s commitment to launching community-focused projects that meet citizens’ aspirations and elevate service standards across the Kingdom. He noted the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to expand green areas, upgrade public parks and facilities, and enhance infrastructure in walkways and recreational spaces in line with the needs of local communities.
He also highlighted coordination with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning to integrate municipal services within housing projects, ensuring accessible, sustainable, and environmentally friendly urban spaces.
For her part, Minister Al Rumaihi stated that the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning is implementing a comprehensive strategy that prioritizes quality of life and sustainability in all current and future housing developments. She noted that designating green spaces and public areas has become an essential component of the Ministry’s master plans, reflecting its vision of sustainable, livable cities.
She added that the opening of the two parks represents a valuable addition to the amenities available in Sitra Housing City, creating safe, inclusive, and vibrant environments for families and children.
Members of Parliament Jalila Alawi and Mohsen Ali Al Asboul praised the project, describing it as a reflection of the government’s dedication to improving public spaces and ensuring a better living environment for residents. They noted that such projects strengthen community bonds, promote social wellbeing, and support sustainable urban growth.
Eng. Saleh Taher Taradah, Chairman of the Capital Municipality Council, also commended the continuous collaboration between the Ministries of Municipalities Affairs, Housing, and Urban Planning. He highlighted that developing parks and recreational areas contributes significantly to enhancing neighborhood facilities, providing accessible spaces for exercise, leisure, and family activities.
The first park covers 2,104 square meters, while the second spans 2,174 square meters. Both include multi-activity playgrounds, wide green lawns, children’s play areas, and shaded seating zones, creating welcoming spaces that foster recreation, relaxation, and community interaction for all residents.
