Woman Arrested for Defrauding Jewellery Store Using Fake Online Payment Receipts
The Deputy Chief of the Northern Governorate Prosecution has revealed that the Public Prosecution received a report from the Northern Governorate Police Directorate concerning a fraud case involving a jewellery store employee and a female suspect.
According to the report, the suspect contacted the jewellery shop via WhatsApp to purchase several gold items. She sent images appearing to show proof of payment through an electronic payment method. Believing the transactions to be genuine, the store handed over the jewellery.
However, the same pattern occurred multiple times until it was discovered that the payment confirmations were falsified and no actual payments had been made. The total value of the stolen gold items amounted to BD 7,000.
Following the report, the Public Prosecution launched an investigation, questioned the suspect, and ordered her detained pending further inquiry. The investigation remains ongoing.
