‘Iranian reaction is proof that it supports terrorism’
Iran’s opposition to the execution of foreign nationals convicted of terrorism in Saudi Arabia is a clear proof that it supports and promotes terrorism in the region, said Shura Council Member Bassam Albinmohamed.
He was speaking to DT News on the Iranian reaction towards the Saudi execution of Shia cleric Nimr Al Nimr and 46 other convicts.
“Iran executed hundreds of its citizens in 2015 and Saudi Arabia did not interfere as it was a local issue. But when it came to Saudi, Iran is raising voice against it. We can’t fight terrorism with double standards,” Bassam said.
He said the recent decision of Saudi and Bahraini to cut diplomatic ties with Iran was the first step towards forcing Iran to have at least normal relations with other sovereign nations.
He hoped that other nations would also step forward to force Iran to change its destructive foreign policy based on the principles of cunningness and hypocrisy.
“The way Iran had reacted to a local Saudi issue has proved why the relationship between Iran and most other Arab nations have always remained tense,” he stated.
