The High Criminal Appeals Court has upheld a five-year prison sentence handed down by the First Criminal Court against a 38-year-old man convicted of theft, fraud, and forgery.

According to the case file, the defendant broke into a victim’s residence and stole a bank card, gold jewelry, and other belongings.

Withdrawal

He withdrew BD1,800 from the victim’s bank account and took medicines, a domestic worker’s clothing, a watch worth BD100, a gold and diamond ring valued at BD1,500, three laptops, and four iPads.

A second witness reported that his home in the Southern Governorate had also been targeted, with the defendant stealing his wallet containing an ID card.

Separately, a businessman testified that the defendant attempted to sell him gold jewelry using the stolen ID.

The fraud was uncovered when the shop owner noticed discrepancies in the identification.

Defendant

The Public Prosecution charged the defendant with using another person’s ID in bad faith, forgery, unlawful benefit, and presenting a forged receipt to sell stolen property.

He was also convicted of theft of personal belongings and unauthorized use of another person’s vehicle. The Appeals Court affirmed the five-year sentence and related convictions.
