Supreme Council for Women Celebrates 25-Year Milestone
Bahrain's Supreme Council for Women (SCW) marks its silver jubilee this week, commemorating 25 years since its founding on August 22, 2001, a landmark moment recognising the advancement of Bahraini women under the nation's ongoing development agenda.
Established under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the SCW has served as a cornerstone institution in building the legislative and institutional frameworks that have empowered women to play a full role in national life.
The anniversary coincides with Bahrain's designation of 2026 as the "Year of Isa the Great," honouring the legacy of the late Sheikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, underscoring the continuity of Bahrain's nation-building journey.
The celebrations also serve as a precursor to Bahraini Women's Day 2026, held under the royal patronage of His Majesty the King and themed "Twenty-Five Years at the Heart of the Reform Project."
The SCW is led by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, whose stewardship has been central to the Council's enduring achievements.
