H.H. Shaikh Isa opens Al Jasra Interchange to ease travel for 57,000 drivers daily

Bahrain opened a new chapter in its infrastructure drive yesterday as His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Minister of the Prime Minister’s Court, marked the official launch of the Al Jasra Interchange Development Project.

The 884-metre project will boost capacity at the key junction by 33 percent, allowing the interchange to handle up to 57,000 vehicles per day. Officials said the new interchange, one of the Kingdom’s road network development initiatives, will ease congestion, improve traffic flow, and enhance safety for commuters.

Strategic milestone

His Highness noted that infrastructure remains a top priority for Bahrain because of its role in driving sustainable development, strengthening competitiveness, and supporting economic growth, all under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. H.H. affirmed that development programmes are progressing strongly to improve all sectors and enhance the quality of government services.

H.H. highlighted that delivering projects in line with the highest standards of quality and efficiency reflects the government’s commitment, led by HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to advance longterm national objectives.

Team Bahrain drive

H.H. Shaikh Isa commended the efforts of the national workforce at the Ministry of Works and other authorities that delivered the project, stressing that such achievements embody the determination of Team Bahrain. His Highness said government projects aim to improve competitiveness, attract investments, and create opportunities for citizens.

Minister of Works H.E. Engineer Ibrahim bin Hassan Al-Hawaj expressed gratitude for H.H. Shaikh Isa’s visit and said the interchange reflects the govern - ment’s support for developing Bahrain’s infrastructure. He noted that the project is part of broader efforts to keep pace with urban growth and comprehensive development goals.

The Al Jasra Interchange project was designed to improve access to Salman City and surrounding areas by creating a safer and more efficient road network. By increasing the intersection’s daily vehicle capacity to 57,000, officials said, the project underscores Bahrain’s push to align infrastructure delivery with its economic and social development priorities.
