30 Days of Onam celebrations begin with BMC Shravana Mahotsavam 2025

Bahrain Media City (BMC), in association with Megamart, proudly inaugurated the BMC Shravana Mahotsavam 2025 with a grand flag-hoisting ceremony on Saturday, August 30.
This marked the official beginning of 30 days of Onam festivities filled with cultural programs, traditional feasts, and community celebrations.
The inaugural evening commenced at the BMC premises with the vibrant beats of Chendamelam, the graceful steps of Thalappoli, and the majestic entry of Maveli Mannan leading the dignitaries and guests to the stage.
Inauguration
The event was officially inaugurated by H.E. Ahmed Al Hayki, Undersecretary, Ministry of Labour, Bahrain, in the presence of distinguished guests including H.E. Issam Al Khayyat, Head of Investment Development – Northern Governorate, Bahrain, Mr. Binu Mannil Varghese, Chairman – Indian School, Bahrain, Mr. Ratheesh Puthenpurayil, Managing Director – Ratheesh Associates, Mr. Francis Kaitharath, Chairman & Managing Director – BMC, Mr. Sudheer Thirunilath, Chairman – Shravana Mahotsavam 2025 Committee, Mr. Bibin Varghese, General Convenor, and Mr. Manikuttan, Chief Coordinator, along with other committee members.
Welcoming the gathering, Committee Chairman Mr. Sudheer Thirunilath extended Onam greetings to all.
In his keynote inaugural address, H.E. Ahmed Al Hayki conveyed his best wishes to the Indian community in Bahrain.
Mr. Francis Kaitharath, in his presidential address, highlighted the cultural significance of Onam, expressed gratitude to sponsors including Megamart, Macro Mart, BFC, Almarai, and supporting organizations such as Karunya Theeram, Life of Caring, KNB Kanoly Nilambur Sisters Network, and numerous Bahraini associations.
As part of the launch, the dignitaries inaugurated the Onappudava distribution drive, which will provide free traditional Onam attire to more than a thousand workers across Bahrain. The event also honored U.A. Muneer and Abdul Azeez, founders of Loushore, an organization working for differently-abled children in Wayanad, Kerala, recognizing their humanitarian efforts.
The evening further witnessed felicitations to renowned mimicry artists K.S. Prasad (General Secretary, Kalabhavan) and Sumesh, both of whom enthralled the audience with a laughter-filled comedy show.
Popular cultural performances including classical fusion, cinematic dances, and traditional Kerala art forms added color to the celebrations.
