Lawmaker calls for cooperation between press and parliament

MP Jalal Kadhem congratulated the President and board of the Bahrain Journalists’ Association (BJA) on their election win, wishing them success as they take up their roles in service of Bahraini journalism.
He noted the Association’s work to empower those in the media, defend their rights, and raise standards built on professionalism and objectivity.
The result, he said, shows the trust journalists have placed in the elected board to serve the craft and its members.
Cornerstone
Kadhem said the reform project led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa treats the press as a cornerstone of oversight, growth, and reform, which shows the standing of freedom of opinion and expression in Bahrain.
He voiced full support for efforts to advance Bahraini journalism, calling it a partner in democratic life and long-term development.
He also called for joint work between the press, civil institutions, and the legislative authority to build a more open and professional media setting that serves scrutiny, law-making, and the wider public interest.
