Bus Overtaking Violation Causes Fatal Hafira Crash

The Deputy Head of the Traffic Prosecution has confirmed that the Public Prosecution received a report from the General Directorate of Traffic regarding a severe traffic accident that occurred in the Hafira area. The crash resulted in the tragic deaths of two individuals and left three others injured.
According to preliminary findings, the accident was caused by the driver of a passenger bus who performed an illegal overtaking maneuver, violating traffic safety laws on a two-way road. The reckless action led to a head-on collision with a truck that was traveling in its designated lane.
Upon receiving the report, the Public Prosecution immediately launched an investigation. The suspect was interrogated and confronted with the available evidence. Based on the findings, authorities ordered the bus driver to be held in custody pending further investigation.
The prosecution also authorized the release of the deceased victims’ bodies to their families. The investigation remains ongoing, with legal preparations underway to refer the accused to criminal court for prosecution.
Authorities have reiterated the importance of adhering to traffic rules to avoid such tragic incidents and ensure public safety on the roads.
