Vehicles involved in collisions causing death or injury, or those tied to reckless driving, are to be confiscated following new instructions from HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
MP Hassan Ibrahim, Deputy Chairman of the Foreign Affairs, Defence and National Security Committee, responded to the move by noting its focus on preserving life and property and maintaining order on Bahrain’s roads.
He referred to the role of Interior Minister, His Excellency Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, in putting the measure into effect, citing the decision to confiscate vehicles as part of a broad push to deter repeat offences.
“There’s a clear message in this approach: careless drivers cannot expect to walk away without consequences,” said MP Ibrahim.
He added that Parliament supports any action aimed at improving road safety and promoting lawful conduct amongst drivers.
