A women-led creative movement is transforming Bahrain’s art scene with colour, community, and purpose. The recent ‘Art of Watercolors’ celebration, held on Saturday at Downtown Rotana, brought together artists, diplomats, and art lovers for an evening that championed inclusivity through paintbrushes and purpose.

Conceptualised by Madhumika Sankar, the artist behind the Femvisionary brand, and delivered in partnership with Matski Media, the event marked World Watercolor Month by showcasing live demonstrations and introducing global causes to local audiences. Attendees were treated to live art sessions by collectives including SketchWalk, Artful, and MashqArt, who painted on-site and engaged with guests. H.E. Mr. Md. Rais Hasan Sarower, ndc, Ambassador of Bangladesh to Bahrain, joined the event as Chief Guest, underlining the role of cultural diplomacy in grassroots events. He was accompanied by Mr. Anoop Kewalram and Mrs. Vicky Saad Mouawad, Vice President of the Bahrain Businesswomen’s Society, reflecting broad community support.

Madhumika Sankar also signed copies of her book ‘Vibrant Watercolor Birds’, currently available on Amazon. The proceeds support the International Child Art Foundation, further tying the event to youth development and global outreach under her ambassadorship for World Watercolor Month.

During the gathering, she announced ‘The Femvisionary Art Exhibition’ scheduled for November 23rd in association with Matski Media. The exhibition will spotlight works by her students as well as other artists based in Bahrain, opening new doors for emerging voices in the Kingdom’s visual arts scene. Supported by Café Rumi and TIAH Academy, and covered by platforms such as Radio Mirchi and Bahrain This Month, the event reinforced how local artists and global causes can intersect to build a more expressive, inclusive future.

The evening ended with a shared sense of momentum, as the watercolours dried and conversations turned to what’s next.
