Southern Governor Chairs Key Security Meeting Ahead of Muharram

Southern Governor His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Khalifa, who also chairs the Security Committee, led the committee’s sixth meeting of the year. The session was attended by Deputy Governor Brigadier Hamad Mohammed Al Khayyat, Deputy Director-General of Southern Governorate Police Directorate Shaikh Salman bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, and several senior officers from various Ministry of Interior departments.

At the beginning of the meeting, HH the Governor welcomed the officers and representatives from the Ministry of Interior, praising their continuous efforts in coordination and cooperation. He highlighted that such teamwork strengthens public safety and security in line with the directives of His Excellency Lt-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior.

HH Shaikh Khalifa stressed the Governorate’s commitment to maintaining strong coordination with the National Disaster Management Committee. He commended the committee’s readiness in setting up shelters, ensuring quick emergency responses, and spreading awareness to protect the wellbeing of both citizens and residents.

The meeting also reviewed the security preparations for the upcoming month of Muharram, with the Governor reaffirming the Southern Governorate’s dedication to working closely with police authorities and heads of local ma’tams (congregational halls) to ensure a safe and peaceful observance.

Additionally, HH the Governor was briefed on summer initiatives by the Community Police Division and the Civil Defense. These include awareness campaigns and increased presence in public areas to enhance safety during the hotter months.

In closing, the attendees expressed their appreciation to HH Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Khalifa for his ongoing support and hands-on approach, which they said plays a crucial role in meeting the security needs of the local community.
