Three public school employees have been sentenced to prison for embezzling nearly BD87,000 from school funds and forging official records to cover their tracks, according to the Public Prosecution.
The High Criminal Court handed down sentences ranging from one to 10 years, ordering each of them to return the money taken and pay fines equal to the amounts misappropriated. The court also seized the falsified documents.
The case came to light after the Ministry of Education reported irregularities at a public school, leading to an inquiry into financial and administrative records.
Investigators found that the defendants had altered records, faked invoices, and falsely linked transactions.
