The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Executive Board has officially endorsed Bahrain's new Country Programme Document (CPD) for the period 2025-2029, further solidifying the Kingdom's strong partnership with the UN agency.

The CPD serves as a key strategic framework, aligning UNDP’s work with Bahrain’s national development goals, particularly those outlined in the Vision 2030 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework, which was signed in December 2024. The document focuses on promoting prosperity and sustainability through diversified, inclusive, and private sector-driven growth, while also enhancing governance systems, rule of law, human rights, and civic engagement.

“As we move forward, the CPD for Bahrain represents a significant step in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and fostering inclusive, sustainable growth in the Kingdom,” said Asmaa Shalabi, UNDP Resident Representative in Bahrain. “The CPD will guide UNDP’s efforts in the country over the next five years, ensuring impactful interventions that support national development priorities while emphasizing innovation, digitalization, and gender equality as cross-cutting themes.”

UNDP has been instrumental in supporting Bahrain's development since 1978, contributing to the Kingdom’s national priorities. On a global scale, UNDP operates in approximately 170 countries and territories, working to eradicate poverty, reduce inequality, and enhance resilience to ensure long-term progress. As the UN's primary development agency, UNDP plays a vital role in helping countries achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

This endorsement marks a new phase in the ongoing collaboration between Bahrain and the UNDP, aiming to create lasting, positive change for the Kingdom’s citizens and the region as a whole.
