Bahrain’s Economic Future : EDB Attracts Over 7,400 Jobs, Strengthens Economic Landscape

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Bahrain Economic Development Board (EDB), chaired the EDB Board of Directors meeting today at its headquarters in Bahrain Bay, underscoring the Kingdom's robust economic development.

HRH highlighted the tireless efforts of Team Bahrain, emphasizing how their collective drive is propelling the nation’s comprehensive growth under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

The meeting reviewed the EDB’s stellar achievements in 2024, including securing record investments worth BHD 680 million (USD 1.804 billion), which are expected to create over 7,400 job opportunities in the next three years. His Royal Highness praised the Kingdom's progress and emphasized the critical need for ongoing strategic planning to enhance Bahrain’s competitiveness on both a regional and global scale.

HRH also expressed pride in the EDB’s pivotal role in diversifying the economy, particularly in sectors such as IT, tourism, and industrial services. These investments align with Bahrain’s goal to create sustainable development and high-quality employment opportunities for its citizens.

Notable projects discussed included stc's investment in a large data center, J.P. Morgan’s commitment to Bahrain-based technologists, and the launch of Crypto.com’s crypto cards in partnership with Mastercard. These digital advancements, along with investments from companies like Aerolam and Foulath, are expected to cement Bahrain’s status as a leading regional tech hub.

The meeting also featured a presentation by HE Noor bint Ali Alkhulaif, Minister of Sustainable Development and Chief Executive of Bahrain EDB, who outlined the strategic contributions from key sectors and highlighted the collaborative efforts of both government agencies and the private sector in driving investment into the economy.

The session also covered updates on the SME sector, which saw an 8.6% growth, contributing BHD 4.51 billion to GDP in Q3 2024, as presented by HE Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro, Minister of Industry and Commerce.

Joining the HRH Crown Prince were key figures such as His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and HE Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, alongside other senior officials.

This meeting served as a reaffirmation of Bahrain's commitment to fostering economic diversity, enhancing global investment, and creating sustainable opportunities for its citizens.
