Onam Festival celebrated in grand style

The Kasargod District Pravasi Association in Bahrain recently celebrated the vibrant Onam festival with a grand event titled ‘Unnirajinu Opparam’. Held over the weekend, the festivities united the expatriate community from Kasaragod district in Kerala, India, for a memorable day filled with cultural performances, a traditional ‘Onasadya’, and more.

The event featured popular film and television star Unni Raja as the chief guest, adding a touch of stardom to the celebration. The association’s General Secretary Rajeev Vellikoth inaugurated the festivities, while President Rajesh Kodoth presided over the ceremony. Other notable attendees included Treasurer Nasser T, Joint Secretary Mani Mangad, and Entertainment Secretary Harris Uliyathadukka.

A significant highlight of the day was the traditional ‘Onasadya’, which showcased an array of delicious dishes. Residents from various parts of Bahrain gathered to partake in the meal, celebrating their rich culinary heritage. The festival also featured an exciting lineup of cultural performances, including music and dance, with association members delivering lively shows. The Aaravam Folk Band captivated the audience with their musical performance, adding to the festive atmosphere.

Special guests included Women’s Section Convener Amita Sunil and Patron Shafi Parakatta. The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks from Manikandan Mangad, while KP Rajeev hosted the evening. The event was a true celebration of Onam’s spirit of unity and tradition, bringing the expatriate community together in a colorful and festive atmosphere.
