Water park symbolises national history, heritage

The Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry's Assistant Undersecretary for Municipal Services, Raed Al Salah, said the ministry intends to prepare the water park development maps in a few months' time.

During a visit by the National Agricultural Sector Development Initiative's secretary-general and Bahrain International Garden Show (BIGS)'s general coordinator, Shaikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa, to the water park in Salmaniya district, Al Salah said the visit reflects the special heed from wife of His Majesty the King, Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, to development of public parks and green spaces in Bahrain, with continuous focus on the importance of environmental protection as a national duty.

The water park is the city's vibrant heart which symbolizes national history, heritage and fond memories cherished by the Kingdom's citizens hence the ministry in turn seeks to develop and rejuvenate the water park, he said. The total area of the water park is around 50,000 square metres which is the largest park in the Kingdom of Bahrain and which should be invested and utilized to increase service facilities and parking lots and to serve as an integrated family recreational park and to serve all community segments, he added.
