Kuwaitis who insult emir can’t run for office
Kuwait City : Kuwait’s parliament yesterday voted to bar people convicted of religious insults or undermining the oil-rich Gulf state’s ruler from contesting general elections. The amendment to the electoral law would prevent dozens of opposition figures, including jailed former MP Mussallam al-Barrak, from standing in next year’s election. The amendment was supported by 40 deputies, including all cabinet ministers.
