JERUSALEM: Israeli President Isaac Herzog will present heroism awards to four Israeli passengers who helped overpower a flydubai co-pilot and prevented him from crashing their aircraft.
The passengers risked their lives during the flight to intervene directly against the co-pilot, successfully averting what officials described as a potential disaster.
Praising their actions in a statement, Herzog declared that the courage shown by the four citizens demonstrated the brave face of Israeli society to the world.
Herzog, who holds a largely ceremonial role as head of state, commended the group for putting themselves in danger to save others on board.
