‘Want To Forgive Them': Indian PM Modi On Protesters Who Abused Him

NEW DELHI: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared he wants to forgive youth protesters who hurled vile insults at him and his late mother during recent demonstrations over examination paper leaks.

Speaking in an Instagram video, the Prime Minister stated that while the abusive words do not belong in a civilised society, mistakes made in youth should be corrected through guidance rather than legal action.

Addressing ongoing police cases, authorities have also asked social media platforms like Meta and X to take down abusive content targeting the premier.

The widespread outcry, mobilized by the online Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) at New Delhi's Jantar Mantar, quickly expanded into broader frustration over youth unemployment.

Posing the biggest challenge to Modi’s government in recent years, the political setback culminated in the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
