Defence, Diplomacy Top Agenda in Kuwait-Pakistan Talks

Kuwait and Pakistan reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing regional security during high-level meetings held in Islamabad as part of Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah's official visit.

Sheikh Jarrah met Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, where both sides reviewed the longstanding friendship between the two countries and discussed ways to expand cooperation in various fields, including political, economic and security sectors.

The talks also covered regional developments and ongoing efforts to promote peace, stability and dialogue. Sheikh Jarrah conveyed Kuwait's appreciation for Pakistan's diplomatic efforts in supporting regional security and stability.

He also conveyed the greetings of Kuwait's leadership to Pakistan's President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Sharif, along with wishes for continued progress and prosperity for Pakistan and its people.

Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar attended the meeting, along with ministers responsible for defence, commerce, national food security, communications, maritime affairs and petroleum, as well as senior government officials.

Earlier, Sheikh Jarrah held talks with Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff and Commander of the Armed Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi.

The two sides highlighted the deep-rooted ties between Kuwait and Pakistan and stressed the importance of expanding cooperation, particularly in defence and security.

Discussions also focused on regional challenges, reducing tensions and strengthening efforts to maintain peace and stability.
