FIFA President Gianni Infantino has confirmed that US President Donald Trump will attend the 2026 FIFA World Cup final on July 19 and join him in presenting the trophy to the winning team at New York-New Jersey Stadium.
Infantino said Fox News, ‘I can confirm that President Trump will be at the final.’ He loves football and the World Cup. He'll be there with me, and we'll give the trophy to the winning squad.
Infantino praised Trump's support for the tournament, saying, ‘His dedication to making the World Cup a success has been phenomenal. We are excited to welcome him for what will be a historic final.’ The move underlines the close relationship the FIFA chief has had with the US president in previous years.
During his second term, Trump attended a number of major sporting events, including the FIFA Club World Cup final, which elicited mixed reactions from fans. FIFA has not provided further details beyond Infantino's announcement.
