London: Oscar-winning actress Helen Mirren, Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi and several members of England's Women's Euro-winning football team were among those recognised in King Charles III's Birthday Honours announced on Friday.

Mirren was appointed a Companion of Honour for her contribution to the performing arts, while Iommi received an MBE for services to music and charity. Children's authors Julia Donaldson and Malorie Blackman were both made dames for their contributions to literature.

Six players from England's victorious 2025 Women's European Championship squad were honoured, including Chloe Kelly, whose winning penalty secured the title. Hannah Hampton, Jess Carter, Alessia Russo, Lauren James and Michelle Agyemang also received MBEs.

In sport, rugby league legend Kevin Sinfield was knighted for his achievements on the field and fundraising efforts supporting research into Motor Neurone Disease. Former Manchester United player Lou Macari was recognised for his long-standing work with a homeless charity.

Nearly 1,200 people featured in this year's honours list, which celebrates outstanding achievements and public service across the United Kingdom.
