Nithya Raman Advances to LA Mayoral Runoff Against Karen Bass

Los Angeles : Progressive Los Angeles city council member Nithya Raman has advanced to the November mayoral runoff, narrowly defeating former reality TV star Spencer Pratt for a chance to challenge incumbent Mayor Karen Bass.
Raman pulled ahead as more ballots from last week's primary election were counted, while Bass had already secured enough support to advance. The runoff is expected to centre on key issues including homelessness, wildfire recovery and public safety.
Pratt, known for the reality show The Hills, launched his campaign after losing his home in the 2025 wildfires but ultimately fell short in the race for second place.
