Trump Says He Called Netanyahu ‘Crazy’ Over Lebanon Fighting

Washington DC: US President Donald Trump has confirmed that he used strong language during a phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, expressing frustration over Israel's continued military operations in Lebanon while Washington was trying to negotiate a broader regional ceasefire.
In an interview released on Wednesday, Trump acknowledged calling Netanyahu 'crazy' and said he was upset by the ongoing fighting. He said he urged the Israeli leader to stop the conflict, though he stressed that the two continue to have a good relationship.
The remarks followed a report that Trump sharply criticised Netanyahu during a recent call, accusing him of undermining diplomatic efforts. Netanyahu declined to discuss details of the conversation but said the two leaders remained aligned on key goals despite occasional disagreements.
The exchange comes as efforts continue to secure an agreement involving Iran, which has said any deal must also include a ceasefire in Lebanon. Although a US-mediated arrangement announced earlier this week reduced some hostilities, clashes between Israel and the Iran-backed Hezbollah movement have continued.
Trump also rejected suggestions that Netanyahu had influenced him into launching military action against Iran, insisting the decision was his own and arguing that preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon was necessary for Israel's security.
