Honolulu: A strong magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck Hawaiʻi Island on Friday night, generating widespread ground shaking that was felt across the entire state, including on neighboring Maui and Oahu.
The powerful earthquake occurred at approximately 9:45 p.m. Hawaii Standard Time. Due to its intensity, the distinct vibrations traveled hundreds of miles across the ocean, rattling homes and alerting residents on multiple islands.
Following the widespread shaking, emergency management officials reviewed the seismic data and reassured the public that the magnitude 6.0 earthquake did not trigger any tsunami warnings or threats for the Hawaiian Islands.
