Pentagon Ready with 'Operation Epic Fury 2.0' as Trump Rejects Iran Peace Offer

Washington DC: President Donald Trump returned to Washington on Friday facing critical decisions on Iran after his high-profile summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing failed to yield a diplomatic breakthrough. Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One soon after his departure, Trump bluntly dismissed Iran’s latest peace proposal, colorfully noting, ‘I looked at it, and if I don’t like the first sentence I just throw it away.’

With diplomatic channels at a complete standstill and the critical Strait of Hormuz remaining closed, military options have moved to the forefront. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth confirmed that the administration is fully prepared to escalate, noting that top military aides have finalized blueprints for a significantly more forceful campaign, informally dubbed ‘Operation Epic Fury 2.0.’

The updated Pentagon contingency plans outline high-intensity strategies designed to break the current geopolitical impasse. These include precision airstrikes on command infrastructure, deploying Special Operations forces to secure heavily fortified underground nuclear sites, or seizing Kharg Island Iran's primary oil export hub.

The threat of imminent escalation comes as the White House balances severe domestic pressures, including soaring global energy prices and the political stakes of the upcoming November midterm elections.

Meanwhile, Tehran has signaled full operational readiness, with Iran’s Parliamentary Speaker warning that their armed forces have mapped out all defensive scenarios and will deliver a decisive counter-response to any fresh US aggression.
