Russia Intercepts Massive Drone Influx Amid Holiday Tensions

Moscow:Russia reported shooting down hundreds of inbound drones overnight in one of the largest aerial engagements of the conflict. The attacks spanned over 20 regions, including the capital, causing nearly 100 flight cancellations and delays across major airports as security levels were heightened.

The escalation follows a failed attempt at a ceasefire earlier this week. While unilateral pauses were proposed for the upcoming national holidays, officials on both sides have traded accusations of disregarding goodwill gestures. Reports indicate continued strikes on civilian infrastructure and regional power grids.

In a significant shift, upcoming national celebrations will be scaled back, with heavy military hardware absent from the main parade for the first time in decades.

Authorities have also announced temporary shutdowns of mobile data services in the capital to ensure public safety.

As diplomatic peace efforts remain stalled, military officials have warned of decisive retaliatory measures. Both nations continue to deploy high volumes of uncrewed aerial technology, with significant interceptions reported on both sides of the front line.
