Meiringen: Around 60 devotees of the Sherlock Holmes Society of London gathered at the thundering Reichenbach Falls in Switzerland to reenact the legendary duel between the great detective and Professor Moriarty.

Dressed in authentic Victorian-era tweed, lavish dresses, and top hats, the group marked the 135th anniversary of the fictional clash that supposedly claimed the lives of both characters on May 4, 1891.

The pilgrims made their way up to a precarious ledge via funicular, overlooking the 120-meter falls in Meiringen. Members assumed the identities of various characters from the Arthur Conan Doyle canon, including the King of Bohemia and the landlady Mrs. Hudson, transforming the spray-filled atmosphere into a living stage.

For the participants, the immersion served as a way to connect deeply with the 'Victorian atmosphere' and the 'triumph of good over evil' found within the stories.
