Qatar’s ambassador to Egypt and permanent representative to the Arab League, Shaikh Jassim bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, met Egypt’s Minister of Culture Dr. Jehan Zewail in Cairo on Monday to discuss strengthening cultural cooperation between the two countries.

According to a statement, both sides reviewed ways to expand joint collaboration in cultural fields and stressed the importance of continued coordination that reflects the “deep fraternal and historical ties” between Qatar and Egypt.

The talks also focused on preparations for upcoming joint cultural initiatives, including Qatar’s selection as Guest of Honor at the 2027 Cairo International Book Fair.

In addition, both sides discussed arrangements for launching the “Egyptian-Qatari Cultural Year 2027,” an initiative aimed at boosting cultural and artistic exchange and widening cooperation across various creative sectors.

Officials said the planned programmes are expected to further enhance bilateral cultural relations and open new avenues for cooperation in arts, literature, and heritage.
