Trump Unhappy With Iran Proposal as Nuclear Dispute Stalls Talks

Washington DC: The US President Donald Trump is unhappy with a new proposal from Iran, as it does not address the country’s nuclear programme,a key demand for Washington.

A US official said Trump “doesn’t love” the proposal, which was discussed with his top national security advisers. The main concern is that the plan delays any discussion on Iran’s nuclear activities.

According to Iranian sources, the proposal suggests dealing with the nuclear issue only after the war ends and tensions over Gulf shipping are resolved. However, the US has made it clear that nuclear matters must be addressed from the beginning.

The disagreement has kept the US-Iran conflict in a stalemate, with energy supplies from the region already affected.

Efforts to reduce tensions are still ongoing, with Pakistan acting as a mediator. However, hopes for progress have weakened after plans for a visit to Islamabad by Trump’s envoy Steve Witkoff and adviser Jared Kushner were cancelled.
