GCC Secretary-General Participates in Strategic Partnership Workshop in Riyadh
Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, took part in a high-level workshop focused on strengthening ties between GCC countries and Central Asian nations.
The event, held in Riyadh, was organised by the Gulf Research Centre in collaboration with the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies. It brought together senior officials, experts, and ambassadors from Central Asian countries.
During his remarks, Albudaiwi highlighted the strong historical, cultural, and economic links between the GCC and Central Asia, expressing confidence that cooperation between the two regions will continue to expand in the coming years.
He noted that Central Asian countries offer significant opportunities in energy, agriculture, and natural resources, while GCC nations bring expertise in infrastructure, investment, and economic development. He also stressed the importance of enhancing trade routes, strengthening supply chains, and boosting investment partnerships to unlock untapped potential between the regions.
Albudaiwi further underlined the importance of security cooperation, particularly in addressing shared challenges such as terrorism and regional instability.
The Secretary-General also pointed to the growing economic strength of GCC countries, calling for deeper integration and increased trade, which currently remains below its full potential.
Addressing regional developments, he highlighted ongoing security challenges in the Gulf and emphasised the importance of international cooperation to safeguard stability, ensure secure energy supplies, and support sustainable development.
The workshop concluded with a shared focus on advancing strategic partnerships and promoting long-term cooperation between the GCC and Central Asian countries.
