INew Delhi: India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar is set to arrive in the United Arab Emirates today as part of a broader diplomatic effort to strengthen ties and safeguard India’s energy security amid rising regional tensions.

The visit follows his ongoing trip to Mauritius and comes at a time when the conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran continues to create uncertainty in global energy markets. Officials said the minister will hold discussions with UAE leaders to further deepen India-UAE relations, particularly in the energy sector.

According to Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, India is actively engaging with countries in the Gulf region under the direction of the Prime Minister to ensure stable energy supplies while continuing to support its neighbours in South Asia.

Jaishankar has also been in touch with counterparts across the region, including Iran, since the conflict began on February 28, highlighting India’s diplomatic outreach during the crisis.

His visit to the UAE follows Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri’s recent trip to Qatar, a key supplier of natural gas to India. The visit gained importance after tensions escalated, including an attack on facilities of QatarEnergy, which later invoked force majeure and halted liquefied natural gas production.

During his visit, Puri held talks with Qatar’s Energy Minister Saad Sherida Al Kaabi, who reaffirmed Qatar’s commitment to remain a reliable energy partner for India.

India has also stepped up its broader regional engagement. On April 9, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal held discussions with his Bahraini counterpart Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro to explore opportunities in trade and investment.

The increased diplomatic activity comes amid uncertainty following a ceasefire announcement by U.S. President Donald Trump, with India working to ensure its energy security and economic stability during the ongoing crisis.
