MADRID: Spain's Foreign Minister, José Manuel Albares, has criticized Israel’s continued military operations in Lebanon as ‘unacceptable.’ His comments followed a two-week ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran aimed at de-escalating the regional conflict.Albares emphasized that all active fronts must cease hostilities, specifically calling out the invasion of a sovereign country like Lebanon.

While Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez welcomed the U.S.-Iran truce as positive news, he maintained a cautious tone, remarking that Spain would not "applaud those who set fire to the world." Israeli forces originally entered southern Lebanon to push back Hezbollah forces who had been launching attacks following the outbreak of war with Iran.

Despite the broader regional ceasefire efforts, the IDF has continued its ground campaign and issued evacuation warnings for southern Lebanon, leading to Spain's diplomatic push for a complete cessation of the conflict.
