North Korea fires two rounds of ballistic missiles: South Korean Military

Seoul: North Korea launched multiple ballistic missiles toward the East Sea on Wednesday, according to South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff. The launches, which occurred during a period of intense global focus on the U.S.-Iran ceasefire in the Middle East, have reignited tensions on the Korean Peninsula and prompted immediate condemnation from Seoul, Tokyo, and Washington.
Military analysts suggest the timing of the tests may be a strategic move by Pyongyang to assert its presence while international diplomatic efforts are concentrated elsewhere. Japanese authorities confirmed that the missiles traveled several hundred kilometers before landing outside Japan’s exclusive economic zone.
In response, the South Korean military has increased its surveillance and maintains a high state of readiness. This latest provocation underscores the fragile security environment in East Asia, even as major powers attempt to de-escalate conflicts in other theaters.
