Cyprus role in strengthening EU–Gulf dialogue

The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jassim Mohammed Al-Budaiwi, received the Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Charis Moritsis, at the GCC General Secretariat headquarters in Riyadh.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed recent regional developments, including the implications of escalating tensions and attacks attributed to Iran against several GCC member states. The talks highlighted concerns over growing instability and its potential impact on regional and international security.
The GCC Secre - tary-General praised Cyprus for its efforts during its current European Union presidency in promoting dialogue and strengthening cooperation between the GCC and the EU. He also appreciated Cyprus’ supportive positions toward GCC states in addressing regional security challenges.
The meeting further reviewed GCC–Cyprus relations and broader GCC–EU ties, exploring ways to enhance cooperation in areas of mutual interest. Both sides also exchanged views on the latest regional and international developments, emphasizing the importance of continued dialogue and diplomatic engagement.
