Beneath Trump’s White House Ballroom is a Secret Military Complex

Washington D.C.: US President Donald Trump has revealed new details about a large underground military facility being developed beneath a planned White House ballroom, according to a report by The New York Times.
While public attention has largely focused on the proposed $400 million ballroom, the report highlights that the more complex aspect of the project lies underground, where the Presidential Emergency Operations Centre (PEOC) is being rebuilt into a significantly expanded facility.
The PEOC, originally constructed during World War II, serves as a secure bunker for the president and senior officials during emergencies. It was used during major crises including the September 11 attacks and civil unrest in 2020.
Trump said the upgraded underground complex would include bomb shelters, advanced secure communication systems, and extensive medical facilities, including a hospital. He also claimed the aboveground ballroom would act as a protective structure, featuring bulletproof materials and enhanced security features.
The project has, however, faced legal hurdles. A federal judge recently ordered a halt to construction, stating that congressional approval is required. The administration has appealed the ruling, arguing that work tied to national security should be allowed to continue.
The US Secret Service has backed the project in court filings, warning that any pause in construction could compromise safety and hinder its protective operations.
Despite the disclosures, many details about the underground facility, including its full scope, cost, and military involvement, remain classified.
