France to Expel Two Iranian Diplomats in Retaliatory Move
France will expel two Iranian diplomats in response to Iran’s decision to ban two French diplomats from its embassy in Tehran, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot said on Tuesday.
“Two Iranian diplomats in France will be expelled in the coming days,” Barrot said in a post on X.
He described Iran’s treatment of the French diplomats as “intolerable,” saying the expulsions were a response to their brief detention in Iran last month.
The French diplomats were arrested over allegations of “interference” before being released, according to Barrot.
The latest move marks a further deterioration in diplomatic relations between France and Iran.
