Kuwaiti Tanker Damaged in Dubai Port Attack
A Kuwaiti crude oil tanker, Al-Salmi, was reportedly attacked by Iranian forces while anchored بالقرب من Dubai Port in the United Arab Emirates, according to a statement released by the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) early Tuesday.
KPC confirmed that the vessel was fully loaded with crude oil at the time of the incident, which occurred at approximately 12:10 a.m. on March 31.
The attack caused significant damage to the tanker’s hull and triggered a fire onboard, raising concerns about a potential oil spill in the surrounding waters.
Emergency response and firefighting teams were immediately dispatched to the scene and are currently working to contain the fire and stabilize the situation in coordination with relevant authorities.
Despite the severity of the incident, KPC confirmed that no injuries were reported among the crew members.
The corporation added that a comprehensive technical assessment is underway to evaluate the extent of the damage, while efforts continue to safeguard the vessel and minimize any environmental impact.
