KARACHI: Pakistan and China have commenced a joint naval exercise in Karachi, marking another step in strengthening their growing military partnership.

According to the Pakistan Navy, a Chinese warship arrived at the port city to participate in the drill, part of the ongoing “Sea Guardian” series of exercises conducted periodically to boost maritime coordination between the two countries.

The exercise is aimed at enhancing interoperability and facilitating the exchange of maritime expertise between the two navies. Officials said the drills reflect a shared commitment to maintaining regional peace and stability.

“The Sea Guardian exercise aims to further strengthen bilateral relations through the mutual exchange of maritime expertise and enhanced interoperability between the two friendly navies,” the Pakistan Navy said in a statement.

The naval exercise comes as part of broader strategic cooperation between Pakistan and China, which spans defense, economic, and diplomatic domains.

Both countries have significantly deepened ties through initiatives such as the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a flagship project involving major infrastructure developments, including the expansion of Gwadar Port.
