Pakistan selector and ex-captain Misbah Resigns After Pakistan Coach Sacked Mid-Tour

Karachi, Pakistan:  Pakistan selection committee member and former captain Misbah-ul-Haq has resigned following the shock mid-tour sacking of red-ball head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed.

The Pakistan Cricket Board replaced Ahmed with New Zealander Mike Hesson ahead of the final Test in Birmingham. The sudden managerial shift came after embarrassing defeats at Headingley and Lord's gave England an unassailable 2-0 series lead.

In an unprecedented shake-up, seven players were sent home mid-tour, with five replaced by uncapped cricketers. Bowling coach Umar Gul was also replaced by Australian Ashley Noffke. Misbah emailed his resignation on Monday night in protest at not being consulted over the sweeping changes.

Former national team figures strongly condemned the PCB's actions. Ex-coach Mickey Arthur labeled the situation ridiculous and disrespectful, while former spinner Tauseef Ahmed criticized the decision for creating a polluted atmosphere.

Former captains Shahid Afridi and Shoaib Malik also voiced frustration over treating senior players poorly during an active series. Both emphasized that accountability must begin after a tour concludes, rather than making disruptive adjustments in the middle of it.
