Qatar Expels Iranian Diplomats, Orders Exit Within 24 Hours

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Qatar has delivered an official note to the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, declaring the military attaché, the security attaché, and staff of both offices as persona non grata, and ordering them to leave the country within 24 hours.

The decision was conveyed during a meeting held on Wednesday between Ibrahim Yousif Fakhro, Director of Protocol at Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ali Salehabadi, Ambassador of Iran to Qatar.

According to the ministry, the move comes in response to what it described as repeated Iranian actions targeting Qatar, as well as acts of aggression that violate the country’s sovereignty and security. The statement emphasized that such actions constitute a clear breach of international law, including United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817, and contradict the principles of good neighborliness.

The ministry warned that continued hostile actions by Iran could prompt further measures by Qatar to safeguard its sovereignty, security, and national interests.

It also reaffirmed that Qatar reserves the right to take all necessary steps in line with international law to protect its territorial integrity and national security.
