UAE Air Defences Intercept 12 Ballistic Missiles and 17 Drones

The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Defence confirmed that the country’s air defence systems successfully intercepted multiple ballistic missiles and drones detected in its airspace on Monday.

According to the ministry, air defence units identified 15 ballistic missiles, of which 12 were intercepted and destroyed, while three fell into the sea without causing damage. Authorities also detected 18 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), with 17 shot down by defence systems and one falling within the country’s territory.

Officials stated that since the start of the ongoing attacks by Iran, a total of 253 ballistic missiles have been detected targeting the United Arab Emirates. Of these, 233 were destroyed, 18 fell into the sea, and two landed within the country.

In addition, the UAE detected 1,440 Iranian UAVs, of which 1,359 were intercepted, while 81 fell within the country’s territory. Air defence forces also detected and destroyed eight cruise missiles during the same period.

The attacks resulted in four fatalities involving foreign nationals from Pakistan, Nepal, and Bangladesh. Authorities reported 117 people sustained minor injuries.

Those injured included citizens and residents from a wide range of countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, the Philippines, India, Sri Lanka, Türkiye, Oman, Jordan, and several other nationalities.

The Ministry of Defence emphasised that the UAE remains fully prepared to confront any threats. It affirmed that the armed forces will respond firmly to any attempts to undermine the country’s security, while continuing efforts to protect national sovereignty, stability, and strategic capabilities.

Officials also reiterated that safeguarding the safety of citizens, residents, and critical infrastructure remains a top priority amid the evolving regional situation.
